Safety Small Group Session

The MD5 student leaders facilitated the MD3 students through important topics related to safety, including dealing with patients who are having suicidal thoughts, auditory hallucinations telling them to harm themselves, and patients who become aggressive in a healthcare settings. These are valuable lessons that many healthcare providers can attest to not being found solely within psychiatry. Thus, these skills will be transferrable no matter the type of doctor these students eventually become.

Special Presentations in Psychiatry

Dr. Jaylynn Arcand taught the MD3 students about important clinical presentations unique or often seen in psychiatry. These included delirium, catatonia, and adverse events related to psychiatric medications. Many of these syndromes can be quite dangerous and thus are important to recognize and treat early.
