GIVING DAY 2026: Kolabo Fundraiser
UCalgary Giving Day is back! From April 9-23, 2026, all eligible gifts will be matched — up to $2,500 per gift — but only while matching funds last, so it pays to give early. Please consider supporting the Kolabo Project by visiting https://ucalgary.ca/givingday and choosing “Kolabo-Tanzania and Calgary Collaboration for Mental Health Fund” under the Fundraising Initiative.
What is Giving Day?
Launched in 2017, UCalgary Giving Day has raised more than $15 million for an array of initiatives across the University of Calgary, including student awards, research, teaching and learning, and more. Eligible gifts made during the campaign are matched, while matching funds last. In addition to the main gift-match, there are a variety of other incentives.
Why Support Kolabo?
Access to quality mental health care remains uneven across the globe, with particularly significant gaps in low- and middle-income countries. Addressing these disparities requires long-term, locally grounded partnerships that strengthen systems from within. Kolabo is an initiative based in Mwanza, Tanzania, created in response to this need.
Built on a longstanding partnership between the University of Calgary and the Catholic University of Allied Sciences (CUHAS), Kolabo reflects a shared commitment to improving mental health care through collaboration, education, and capacity building.
The goal is to support locally led solutions that can endure and evolve over time. We are currently supporting the development of a sustainable postgraduate psychiatry training program at CUHAS, enabling more psychiatrists to be trained locally. Through your funds and Kolabo’s ongoing efforts, we hope to support the long-term development of mental health services in Mwanza, Tanzania.
